AGRICULTURE MECHANIC GENERAL POSITION DETAILS
Full time, Non-exempt
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with overtime as needed during planting and harvesting seasons
Pay rate: begins at $15.00/hour or more depending on experience
Relocation package is available for the right candidate(s)
AGRICULTURE MECHANIC GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Agriculture Mechanic dismantles farming and agriculture equipment, cleans and inspects parts for re-sell, rebuilds or repairs parts as needed, and reassembles parts for sale.The Agriculture Mechanic will work under minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE AGRICULTURE MECHANIC
- Dismantle incoming heavy farming and agriculture equipment
- Diesel Engines
- Transmissions
- Cabs
- Hydraulics and PTOs
- Axles
- Occasional rebuilders
- Clean parts
- Inspect parts to determine re-sale potential
- Repair or rebuild damaged or non-functioning parts
- Reassemble parts
- Test rebuilt or repaired parts
- Complete paperwork as required in a neat and professional manner
- Tag, Wash and box any warranty parts and turn in to correct location
- Clean service area, tools and instruments and return them to their proper location
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area
- Proper use and care of all Company tools and equipment
- Follow all safety guidelines
AGRICULTURE MECHANIC: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Factory/ASE certified in any diesel motor; one or more of the following: John Deere, Case/IH or Ford/New Holland is highly desirable
- 3 or more years experience in diesel engine repair or related work is required
- Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience is required
- Basic computer skills required
- Prior experience using hand tools, pressure washers, electric/gas welder, drill press, hydraulic press, forklift and shop tools related to automotive work
- Must provide a basic set of tools
- Ability to perform lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, manipulating and handling objects
- Ability to perform in high traffic/volume situations
- Ability to manage several tasks consecutively; think logically to apply specific principles to solve practical everyday problems and deal with a variety of specific variables and situations where limited standardization exists
- Ability to function in a team environment putting organizational and team goals in priority
JOB CONDITIONS FOR AGRICULTURE MECHANIC
- Exposure to elements during all seasons on a daily basis, although most work is performed indoors
- Exposure to dirt, dust and pests related to remanufacturing environment
- Work pressure can be substantial during peak times, requiring considerable adaptability
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in certain work areas of the business
- Must be able to pass drug and background checks
